Earwax treatment & self-care
If you don’t have a perforation or a tube in your eardrum, your doctor may suggest a gentle earwax-removal technique you can try at home. If earwax build-up keeps returning, ask your ENT specialist what they recommend to help prevent it.
Earwax blockage without symptoms can sometimes clear on its own. But because the ear canal and eardrum are delicate and easily damaged, wax removal is most safely carried out by an ENT doctor — particularly if you have ear pain, drainage, a perforated eardrum, or have had ear surgery.
